If you haven’t been living under a rock, you must have heard about actor Govinda and his nephew Krushna Abhishek’s rift that has been out in the public for years. Their long-running feud that also involves their families came back to the spotlight in recent days after the comedian’s wife Kashmera Shah took a dig at the Bollywood actor and his wife Sunita Ahuja.
This wasn’t the first time their tiff grabbed headlines. In the past, several statements have been made from both sides that stirred controversies. As per reports, the tiff started in 2016 when Govinda got irked by Krushna’s comment made on a TV show. The actor slammed his nephew for “making money by insulting others on television.” He shared that he was upset with the ‘Maine Govinda ko apna mama rakha hai’ remark.
Later, when Govinda appeared on The Kapil Sharma Show instead of his show Comedy Night Live, Krushna expressed his disappointment in public. He said, “Somehow our dates didn’t seem to match. I messaged him again four days ago, but to my shock, I learnt that he and his wife were shooting with Kapil. I was aghast as I expected him to support his nephew.”
Later, in 2018, Govinda’s wife Sunita Ahuja took a dig at Krushna’s wife Kashmera for her cryptic tweet that slammed “people who dance for money.” Sunita alleged that Kashmera was referring to Govinda in the tweet and she decided to cut all ties with both Kashmera and Krushna. Even though Krushna later clarified that the tweet was meant for his sister Arti Singh, things didn’t change between the uncle-nephew duo. The whole fiasco ended up in a public fallout between the two.
Within a year, their tiff returned to the surface and grabbed everyone’s attention as Govinda’s wife refused to share the stage with Krushna on The Kapil Sharma Show in 2019. As per reports, Krushna Abhishek, who played Sapna on the show at the time, was asked not to attend a segment with Govinda and his wife Sunita Ahuja present on the stage. Speaking about the same in an interview with TOI, Krushna shared that he was sad and shocked to know that Sunita did not want to be on a stage with him. “I was told by the team that Sunita Mami didn’t want me to be a part of the segment featuring them. So I appeared in a gig before their entry. It was sad and shocking, as my character (Sapna) is an integral part of the show,” Krushna had said.
Last year, Krushna opted out of a TKSS episode that featured Govinda as a celebrity guest. While speaking about the same, Krushna told a leading media portal that he has reservations about sharing a stage with his uncle Govinda. He said that last year’s incident left a bad taste in his mouth and he doesn’t want to perform in front of him.
Krushna said, “I learnt about Chi Chi mama coming on the show around 10 days ago. Since Sunita Mami wasn’t accompanying him, the team thought that I would have no qualms performing. However, the incident has left a bad taste in my mouth. Last year, she didn’t want me to perform in front of them, but this time, I had reservations.”
This year, Krushna recently revealed that he has opted out of Sunday’s episode of TKSS featuring Govinda to avoid any sort of unpleasantness. Krushna decided to not “adjust” his dates after he learnt that Govinda will be the guest on the episode.
As usual, Sunita didn’t keep quiet. She decided to hit back at Krushna for opting out of the show due to Govinda. She said that she is distressed beyond words to know what Krushna said about refusing to be a part of the TKSS episode featuring her husband and Bollywood actor. She further added that she wants to maintain a dignified distance from Krushna and his wife
In response to Sunita’s statement, Kashmera recently said that she doesn’t want to talk about Sunita who gets her identity by being a star wife. “Who is Sunita,” she said in a sarcastic tone.
