Indian pacer Jasprit Bumrah recently opened up on his relationship with his wife Sanjana Ganesan. Not many were aware of the couple dating each other before the rumours of their wedding took social media by storm earlier this year. Bumrah and Sanjana tied the knot in an intimate ceremony in Goa in March this year.
Bumrah revealed his first impression of Sanjana was not that good and he thought the sports presenter was arrogant. The Indian pacer insisted the story was the same on Sanjana’s side as well, as Bumrah too came across as arrogant for her. However, they got to know each other better once they started talking during the 2019 World Cup in England and love blossomed soon.
In an interview with senior India wicket-keeper Dinesh Karthik, Bumrah shed light on his relationship with Sanjana and how they came close during their interactions during the 2019 World Cup in England.
“I had obviously seen her a lot of times but we had the same problem with each other. She thought I was really arrogant, I thought she was really arrogant so we never really spoke. I spoke to her for the first time during the 2019 World Cup when she was here covering the event. We became friends and started talking a lot. It’s been good, we have been married for five months now, so yeah very happy,” Bumrah recalled during the interview.
Bumrah said his understanding with Sanjana has grown post their marriage as the sports presenter understands what a player goes through during the highs and lows of the sport. Sanjana is presently in England with Bumrah on India’s ongoing tour and the couple often share pictures on social media.
“She understands the sport, she understands what the player goes through, so whenever things don’t go well or go well, we have a lot of interesting conversations, that really helps me. And, obviously, playing cricket and travelling all the time, you’ve got your wife with you now, so, you really have to focus on other things as well,” said Bumrah.
“You can switch off after the game. All these factors are really helpful and I’m really happy how this relationship has developed,” he added.
