Bigg Boss fame Payal Rohatgi is no stranger to being in the centre of controversial situations. As per the latest reports, a First Information Report (FIR) has been registered against her in Pune for an alleged defamatory video on social media platforms about Mahatma Gandhi, Jawaharlal Nehru, Indira Gandhi and Rajiv Gandhi.

A complaint has been filed at Shivaji Nagar police station by the office bearers of the Pune City Congress committee. This is not the first case filed against her. Payal was previously booked in different police jurisdictions in the country.

Giving an update about the current case, a tweet by news agency ANI read, “A case has been registered against actress Payal Rohatgi (in file pic) in Pune for allegedly using objectionable words against Mahatma Gandhi, Jawaharlal Nehru, Indira Gandhi & Rajiv Gandhi in a video shared on social media, under sections 153 (a), 500, 505(2) and 34 of IPC.”

A report by Indian Express quoted Pune City Congress spokesperson, Ramesh Iyer, as saying, “Payal Rohatgi has repeatedly made derogatory comments about the Nehru Gandhi family. We came across one such post, which we believe has been made recently. Subsequently, the office-bearers of the Pune City Congress committee, including Ramesh Bagwe, Mohan Joshi, Datta Bahirat, Sangeeta Tiwari and myself, met senior police officials from the cyber crime cell. A formal complaint in the case was given by Sangeet Tiwari. The police have acted on it and a case has been registered at Shivaji Nagar police station.”

The report further stated that the Pune City Police Commissioner Amitabh Gupta has confirmed that an FIR has been filed against Payal. He added that a probe is underway.

Meanwhile, earlier this year in June, Payal was arrested from her residence in Ahmedabad by the police after she was booked for allegedly using derogatory language against the society’s chairman and other residents.

Back then, the Bigg Boss fame booked under IPC sections 294 b for obscenity, 506 for criminal intimidation, 504 for intentional insult and sections of the information technology (IT) Amendment Act. The complaint against Payal was filed by a doctor who had claimed that she used indecent language with him and even threatened to kill him.

It won’t be wrong to say that Payal is controversy’s favourite child and every now and then her statements or social media uploads land her in trouble.
