This week’s first two episodes of Amitabh Bachchan-hosted Kaun Banega Crorepati 13 are going to be special. The new season is going to get its first crorepati (read: female crorepati). Visually impaired contestant Himani Bundela who hails from Agra, Uttar Pradesh will fight against all odds and will take Rs 1 crore home. She will also attempt the Rs 7 crore question, a feat not achieved by many in the past.

In tonight’s episode of the show, Himani managed to impress Big B with her knowledge as she correctly answered one question after another. With the huge prize money, Himani aims to open an inclusive coaching centre for specially-abled students. During one segment of the show, host Bachchan asked a personal question to Himani on how she lost her eyesight.

Himani took the viewers back in 2011 when the mishap took place. Himani was in 11th class and was on her way to her tuition class when she got hit with a bike. “Physically to bhot chot thi, hath, paer me bleeding ho rahi thi. But uss time pe ye nahi pata tha ki physcial k sath meri eyes me bhi problem hai,” she elaborated. A few days after the accident, Himani noticed a sudden rise in her eye number. When she went to the doctor for a check-up, it was then she realised that her retina got detached from the eyes.

Doctors advised her to get operated within 2-3 days otherwise she might lose her full vision. Himani further shared that she got operated four times within a span of eight months! She was able to see things clearly including colours till the third operation but during her fourth operation in 2012, she felt as if her life had come to an end.

Himani said she lost her complete vision after the fourth operation. From 2012 to now, her eyesight has become so weak that she can only see whether it’s light or dark outside.

Himani won Rs 50 lakh before the end of tonight’s episode. She will continue playing tomorrow and will go on to attempt questions for Rs 1 crore and Rs 7 crore. Here’s wishing all the best to her
