Popular singers Sonu Nigam and Abhijeet Sawant had spoken about the issue of how sob stories of participants on reality shows are targeted for TRPs. Now, even independent singer Darshan Raval feels that one needs to focus on music and not stories. He is known for his melancholic songs and soulful tunes.

His voice touches the heart and can make you emotional. He garnered fame despite losing the reality TV show India’s Raw Star. Raval who hails from Ahmedabad used to perform in cafes before he started his journey as an independent music artist. The reality TV star shot to fame with his Bollywood debut Jab Tum Chaho which was composed by Himesh Reshammiya for Salman Khan’s Prem Ratan Dhan Payo.

During an exclusive interview with Times Now Digital, the singer spoke about how varied reality shows were back in time with fewer sob stories. He also expressed his opinions on whether contestants are given more favours if they have a “sob” story?

“It is we who have to focus on music and not on stories around music. That is what I feel. It would be unfair for me to tell about any contestant. I can only tell my personal views. I had got great benefits and support from reality shows. I had no sob story as such and people supported me,” he said.

Although, the singer feels that social media has become a massive platform for artists everywhere. Darshan can connect with his fans and share his songs. They are like his family. But for the Saari Ki Saari singer, had faced a lot of struggles in his career. The popular singer, songwriter, and composer said that he has been struggling every day ever since he became famous.

“Since 4 years, jabse mei famous hua hu, meri struggle har roz hai. As every day, I have to forget that people know me. I have to come to the studio and make music for them. It has been a struggle every day. I have been failing and trying to succeed on my own. For I do not have a sad story of how badly I struggled and everything,” he said. Although initially when Darshan had started his career, he was trolled. This was because he used to sing sad songs.

Darshan is also famous for lending his soulful voice to songs like Hawa Banke, Baarish Lete Aana, Kaash Aisa Hota, Dil Mera Blast Ho Gaya, Bhula Dunga to name a few.
