Key meeting underway at PM Narendra Modi’s residence. NSA Ajit Doval, Home Minister Amit Shah and Defence Minister Rajnath Singh are also present. While the agenda of the meeting is yet unknown, it comes amid an evolving situation in Afghanistan.
PM Narendra Modi chaired a meeting of the Cabinet Committee on Security (CCS) on Tuesday evening and directed the officials to bring back all the Indians from Afghanistan.
During the CCS meeting, PM said – “India must not only protect our citizens, but we must also provide refuge to those Sikh and Hindu minorities who want to come to India, and we must also provide all possible help to our Afghan brothers and sisters who are looking towards India for assistance,” a senior official who was present at the CCS later told agencies.
As reported earlier by Times Now, PM Modi has been personally monitoring the evacuation of Indians from Kabul. On Monday, for instance, he was monitoring the evacuation of Indians from Afghanistan till late night and was informed when the flight from Kabul to India took off from the Hamid Karzai International Airport at Kabul.
India has been evacuating Indian citizens stranded in Afghanistan by deploying Indian Air Force (IAF) transport aircraft after commercial flight operations at the Kabul airport were suspended.
