Ahead of every Olympic event, in order to be in the best possible shape, athletes across the world follow a strict diet. Ace Indian shuttler PV Sindhu is no different and while she was on a strict diet ahead of the Tokyo Olympics 2020, Prime Minister Narendra Modi had promised to eat ice cream with her once she returns from the quadrennial event. The ice cream will taste even sweeter as Sindhu became India’s first female athlete to bag two Olympic medals.

Speaking to Times Now, when asked whether she had decided upon the flavour of the ice cream she wants to eat, Sindhu said, “I haven’t decided but I am sure I will,” Sindhu said while speaking

Sindhu had said that while she was looking forward to eating the ice cream, moments like these often make athletes forget about stuff like eating as the feeling of winning a medal is a big one.

“PM Sir spoke to me and he mentioned the ice cream and I said, of course Sir. But more than the ice cream, it’s that you enjoy the moment. Eating the ice cream and stuff like that, it comes and goes, but the moment you are here, you have to enjoy the moment. Sometimes you forget to eat as you are in that moment and you are so happy,” Sindhu said while speaking .

Sindhu, who won a historic Silver medal at Rio Olympics 2016, went on to add that she went blank for a few seconds after she won a bronze medal match in Tokyo and the feeling is yet to sink in.

“After the match was over, I was just standing and looking up, I couldn’t believe I had won a bronze medal. I went and hugged my coach because his hard work also paid off. And then I went towards my bag, at that moment I couldn’t breathe because you work so hard for 5 years and when you get that medal, it’s a different moment altogether. It hasn’t sunk in, I keep thinking, we all came here, it was a dream and it’s finished. I have got two Olympic medals. It’s unbelievable for me,” she added.
