Mumbai Police records Shilpa Shetty’s statement after Raj Kundra’s custody gets extended till July 27

Shilpa Shetty’s husband Raj Kundra was arrested on July 19 for being a ‘key conspirator in producing and making pornographic films. His custody was extended until July 23 (Friday). Today, along with his partner Ryan Thorpe, Raj appeared before the Magistrate Cout and the Mumbai Police has sought seven days of police custody. Raj and Ryan have now been sent to police custody till July 27.

An official post by news agency ANI confirmed the news to state, “Police suspect that money earned from pornography was used for online betting. This is why transactions between Raj Kundra’s Yes bank account and United Bank of Africa account need to be investigated, Mumbai Police tells Court. Maharashtra: Businessman Raj Kundra & one Ryan Thorpe have been sent to police custody till 27th July”

Raj has been charged under Sections 420 (cheating), 34 (common intention), 292, and 293 (related to obscene and indecent advertisements and displays) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), and relevant sections of the IT Act and the Indecent Representation of Women (Prohibition) Act.

The news agency has also reported that Mumbai Police is reportedly recording Shilpa Shetty’s statement. A tweet by ANI reads, “Maharashtra | Mumbai Police is recording the statement of Shilpa Shetty, in connection with pornography case.”

Over the last few days, Sagarika Sumona Suman has also spoken against Raj Kundra. In a video press conference, Sagarika revealed that Raj offered her a web series and on a video call asked her for a ‘nude audition’ that she denied. She further went on to claim that she has been receiving rape and death threats ever since she spoke against Raj

On the other hand, wife Shilpa has remained tight-lipped on the matter and hasn’t made any public appearance either. Last night, Shilpa went on to share a passage from the book she is currently reading. The highlighted paragraph reads as, “Let us not look back in anger, nor forward in fear, but around in awareness. We look back in anger at the people who’ve hurt us, the frustrations we’ve felt, the bad luck we’ve endured. We look forward in fear at the possibility that we might lose our job, contract a disease, or suffer the death of a loved one.”
