Nadda has good opinion of me…no one has sought my resignation: Yediyurappa allays rumours of change of guard

For the second consecutive day, Karnataka Chief Minister B S Yediyurappa dismissed rumours floating around about his resignation and called them baseless, adding that BJP president JP Nadda had a “good opinion” about him.

Yediyurappa, in the national capital for the past couple of days, said on Saturday that Nadda asked him to strengthen the party cadre in the southern state, and retaining power in the next assembly polls.

He also said that in his meeting with Nadda, they also discussed about the development of the BJP in Karnataka.

The veteran BJP leader had met Prime Minister Narendra Modi yesterday and is expected to meet Union ministers Rajnath Singh and Amit Shah as well later today.

“We discussed about the development of the party in the state. He asked me to give special emphasis on bringing the BJP back to power in Karnataka. The same was told by the prime minister also. A detailed discussion happened,” Yediyurappa said after meeting Nadda, news agency PTI reported.

The Karnataka Assembly elections are set to be held in 2023.

The slew of meetings has come at a time when rumours are abuzz that Yediyurappa could be replaced as the Chief Minister.

Earlier in the day, Yediyurappa dismissed rumours about him stepping down, and told reporters that there was no truth in those claims.

“Not at all. Not at all. So far no one has asked to resign. If there are any news, there is no value to it. I’ve discussed in detail about the development of the party in the state and the country. He has given so many instructions to me. He has a good about opinion about me. I’ll work for the party and come back to power again in Karnataka. It is the duty of a CM to come to Delhi to discuss state issues and get clearance, I will come again in the first week of August,” ,” Yediyurappa said when asked if he had resigned

Speculation are rife about BSY, as he is fondly called, being asked to step down after some disgruntled leaders within the Karnataka BJP cadre targeted him and his family with corruption allegations, and interference in administration
