BJP unstable in Karnataka; internal feud affecting state administration: Mallikarjun Kharge

Amid uncertainty over BS Yediyurappa’s future as Karnataka Chief Minister, Congress on Saturday trained guns at the BJP-led government in the state saying its internal feud is affecting the state administration.

The speculation surrounding Yediyurappa’s future grew stronger after he met Union Ministers Amit Shah and Rajnath Singh and BJP national president JP Nadda in New Delhi today.

Following the meet with Amit Shah, Yediyurappa claimed that he has been asked by the Union Home Minister to work hard for Karnataka and ensure the saffron party retains power in the next Assembly elections and improve its standing in the 2024 Lok Sabha polls.

When asked about Yediyurappa’s Delhi visit, senior Karnataka Congress leader Mallikarjun Kharge said, “BJP is unstable in the state. Their MLAs and ministers are openly speaking of ousting the CM.”

“I don’t think this has been a situation in any state, it’s been going for 7-8 months. It’s affecting state administration,” he added.

Talking about Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) chief Sharad Pawar and Congress leader AK Antony’s meet with Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, Kharge said, “I don’t have detailed information as to what did the Defence Minister discussed.”

“We will get details but Rahul Gandhi also wants to raise the China issue in Parliament. We will raise all issues,” said Mallikarjun Kharge, Leader of Opposition in Rajya Sabha.

Earlier in the day, BS Yediyurappa dismissed rumours about his resignation, saying they are not at all true.

“Not at all. Not at all,” Yediyurappa told reporters at the Karnataka Bhavan when asked if he has resigned.
