After legendary MS Dhoni, former Team India skipper Sourav Ganguly is set to be the next icon of the gentlemen’s game to have agreed for a biopic. As per the recent developments, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) president and cricket icon has finally said yes to Bollywood to have a biopic that will chronicle the cricketing journey of the legendary captain. Bollywood superstar Ranbir Kapoor has reportedly emerged as a ‘hot favourite’ to portray Ganguly on the celluloid.
It goes without saying that legendary cricketer Ganguly transformed the Indian national team under his iconic captaincy stint in the early 2000s. From Yuvraj Singh to MS Dhoni, Ganguly oversaw several match-winners who eventually became legends of the game through his captaincy spell for Team India. Ganguly guided Team India to ICC Champions Trophy glory in 2002 before the Men In Blue finished runners-up in the 2003 ICC World Cup under his leadership.

According to a report filed by News 18, the former Team India skipper and current BCCI president has said yes to his biopic which will be a Hindi movie. “Yes, I have agreed to the biopic. It will be in Hindi but it is not possible to say the name of the director now. It will take a few more days for arranging everything,” Ganguly was quoted as saying.
There is no brainer that Ganguly’s biopic will be made by a big banner-production house. As per the report, the makers of the Ganguly biopic have a big budget of around Rs 200 to Rs.250 crore for the Bollywood movie. The report also stated that actor Ranbir is the ‘hot choice’ to play reel Dada and Ganguly has also mentioned the actor’s name for the role.
