Popular comedian Madhav Moghe who is best known for his stint in comedy shows on TV, where he was known for his mimicry of Thakur from the classic cult film Sholay passed away on July 11.

The renowned mimicry artist was also known for his stint in films Damini, Ghatak, Vinashak, Partner among others, was battling stage three cancer.

Comedian Suni Pal took to Twitter to share an image of the late artist and wrote, “It saddens me to inform you all about the sad demise of #Comedian , #MimicryArtist our MAAM Secretary Mr Madhav Moghe May his soul rest

Madhav Moghe was often called duplicate Sanjeev Kumar for his style of mimicry. The actor used to play Kumar’s character from Sholay in MTV Fully Falty. Having debuted in Bollywood with the 1993 film Damini, which also starred Sunny Deol, Rishi Kapoor, Amrish Puri and Meenakshi Seshadri, he was last seen in the 2011 film Jaana Pehchana. The film had Sachin Pilgaonkar and Rajneeta Kaur in key roles. The actor was also a regular in Sachin Pilgaonkar-hosted 1990s show Ek Do Teen, which featured parodies of a number of popular Bollywood films.

In an interaction with news agency PTI, his daughter Prachi Modhe revealed that the artist was not keeping well since the last one month and had been admitted to Bombay Hospital last week, where he was diagnosed with lyng cancer.
