UP Block Panchayat Election Results: BJP wins 630 seats; violence reported in many districts

Announcing massive victory for the Bharatiya Janata Party in block panchayat elections, with the saffron brigade winning 630 out of 825 seats. 

Prime Minister Narendra Modi congratulated Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and BJP UP for the stupendous performance in the polls.

Counting of votes started in the state amid reports of violence from several districts. 

As per the report, violence was reported in Chandauli, Etawah, Kanpur Dehat and Hamirpur.

In Etawah, when the mob was asked to stop from coming near the polling booth, it started stone-pelting and firing

‘Have all the CCTV footages, investigation after election is over’

Talking to ANI, SSP Etawah said they have all the CCTV footage, and an investigation will be conducted once the election is over and a case will be filed soon.

The BJP won all seats of 8 blocks in Lucknow and Kannauj and also registered victory in six out of eight seats in Moradabad and three seats in Bhadohi.

The saffron party won 15 seats out of 19 in Sitapur, while the Samajwadi Party won three seats

In Hardoi, BJP emerged victorious on 14 seats out of 19 blocks while the SP won only one seat.

Independent candidates won three seats each. The saffron party won unopposed in 14 seats in Agra and defeated SP in Barauli Aheer.

The counting of votes concluded at 3 pm.

BSP, Congress, SP slam Yogi govt over violence in UP

Reacting to BJP’s splendid victory, UP Deputy CM Keshav Prasad Maurya called it a testimony to the stellar work done by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath.

Violence was also reported during the nomination process for the block panchayat chief elections in several districts of Uttar Pradesh, with the Samajwadi Party calling it a sign of the ‘Jungle Raj’ in the state.

The BSP and Congress also attacked the BJP government over the violence during the polls, including the Lakhinpur Kheri incident, and demanded an apology from the CM. 

Few people allegedly misbehaved with a woman and pulled her sari during nominations for the block chairman polls in Lakhimpur Kheri.

The National Commission for Women (NCW) took suo moto cognisance and asked the UP police to take action against people who misbehaved with the woman.

Meanwhile, the UP government suspended six police officers after it came under heavy criticism from the Opposition.
