Dilip Kumar buried with state honours in Mumbai; grieving Saira Banu bids final goodbye at the funeral

Veteran actor Dilip Kumar’s death has shaken the entire nation. The Indian film industry is mourning one of its greatest losses today. The legendary actor, who passed away at the age of 98, has left a void in cinema and a huge body of work behind him, for future filmmakers and actors to learn from. Dilip Kumar, who had been facing regular health issues since months, passed away at Mumbai’s Hinduja Hospital, early this morning.

“With a heavy heart and profound grief, I announce the passing away of our beloved Dilip Saab, few minutes ago. We are from God and to Him we return,” his friend Faisal Farooqui informed through a social media post.

Several actors, filmmakers, well-wishers have been taking to social media to express grief and pay heartfelt condolences to his grieving wife Saira Banu. Shah Rukh Khan, Ranbir Kapoor, Karan Johar, Shabana Azmi, Anupam Kher are among the few celebrities who personally also visited Dilip Kumar’s house to pay last respects before the funeral.

Dilip Kumar has been buried with full state honours at Juhu Muslim Cemetery in Santacruz West. His mortal remains were wrapped in Indian tricolor flag.

Dilip Kumar was one of the most versatile actors of his time. He became a star in the first decade of his career, but in his second, he was considered a superstar. From the iconic film Mughal-e-Azam, Andaz, Gunga Jamuna to Ram Aur Shyam, Devdas, and Azaad, Dilip Kumar gave several hits, thus, delivering some of his best works on the big screen and paving away for the upcoming generations
