Indian skipper Virat Kohli didn’t have a great day with the willow as he was dismissed cheaply on Day 6 of the ongoing World Test Championship (WTC) final between India and New Zealand in Southampton. Kohli was the first batsman to be sent back on the reserve day as Kyle Jamieson dismissed him for 13 off 29 balls.

While Kohli didn’t impress with the bat, he won hearts with his nice gesture for New Zealand wicket-keeper batsman BJ Watling, who is playing his final Test for the Kiwis in the WTC final. After getting dismissed, Kohli walked up to Watling and shook his hands congratulating him on his Test career ahead of his retirement from the longest format.

ICC shared a video of the Indian captain’s great gesture for the New Zealand wicket-keeper batsman, who will be quitting Test cricket after playing 79 Tests and notching 3789 runs for the Black Caps. The gesture from Kohli left fans impressed as they lauded the Indian skipper in the comments section

Talking about the ongoing World Test Championship final, New Zealand are now in a strong position to win the final after dominating the opening session on the reserve day in Southampton. Resuming from their overnight score of 64/2 on Day 6, India lost skipper Kohli on 13 before Cheteshwar Pujara followed suit as he was also dismissed by Jamieson on 15 off 80 balls

Losing two wickets in quick succession left India reeling on 72/4 before vice-captain Ajinkya Rahane was also sent back early on 15 off 40 balls. Rishabh Pant then combined with Ravindra Jadeja to steady the ship for India with a 33-run stand for the sixth wicket. 

Jadeja was looking in good touch but was dismissed by Neil Wagner post lunch after scoring 16 off 49 balls. India currently have a lead of 115 runs but will be hoping to reach closer to the 200-mark to save the Test match
