Former West Bengal chief secretary and Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee’s adviser, Alapan Bandyopadhyay, has been served another letter from the Centre warning him of “major penalty proceedings” for skipping Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s cyclone review meeting last month.
Bandyopadhyay has been given 30 days to submit a written reply to the Central government in his defence.
The Centre has initiated disciplinary proceedings for misconduct and misbehaviour against Bandyopadhyay who chose to retire as Bengal chief secretary amid the Centre-state tussle last month and was subsequently appointed as the CM’s chief adviser for three years.
Proceedings against the former bureaucrat has been initiated to impose major penalty for alleged “misbehavior and misconduct”.
