Union Minister Hardeep Singh Puri on Saturday alleged that the States are profiteering on their own procurement of COVID-19 vaccines saying claiming that the Punjab government made a profit on Covishield doses it sold.
Addressing a press conference, Puri lashed out at the Congress government over the alleged selling of COVID vaccine doses by the Punjab government to private hospitals for profit. “In Punjab, the COVID-19 doses which should be provided free of cost to people were sold at higher prices. Covishield dose purchased at Rs 309 has been sold at 1,560,” ANI quoted Puri as saying.0
“Punjab government officer and the in-charge of COVID vaccination on May 29 has disclosed some data and pointed out that 4.29 lakh doses of Covishield procured at Rs 13.25 crore, its average amount Rs 309. Around 1,14,190 Covaxin doses procured at Rs 4.70 cr its average amount is Rs 412,” the union civil aviation minister said.
