Donal on being asked to ‘compromise’ with filmmaker: They see you’re a model, and approach you

Donal Bisht has been a part of the entertainment industry for five years now and is a popular face on TV owing to her shows Roop – Mard Ka Naya Swaroop and Dil Toh Happy Hai Ji. However, it wasn’t easy for Donal to make a mark for herself in showbiz. The actress, who hails from Delhi, struggled a lot and even had to face some setbacks in her journey.

During an interview with Times Now Digital, the actress opened up about a horrifying incident from her modelling days. She revealed that she was asked to “compromise” by a South filmmaker when she was in Delhi.

“I had experienced this when I was in Delhi and was not into the (TV) industry. I had not started working also. I was doing modelling. At that time, I got shattered… If they see you are a model, people approach you. But it is your thing, where you want to go. There are 100 types of people. Be smart as nothing comes on a silver spoon. You have to work hard,” she said.

She also revealed how she made sure that she lands a good project and not fall prey to any wrong decisions. “The thirst for work and creativity was inside me… There are A, B grade films and there are people, who are making a Rs 50 lakh, Rs 2 lakh or a Rs 100 crore film. You need to check their background on the internet. That is how you can land a good project. Avoid people who are weird and fishy. Here, in the industry, hard work pays, and genuine people are there…. be positive and be with people who are right,” she added.

Talking about her journey in the TV industry so far, Donal says that it is highly competitive and you can’t afford to just sit and relax. “This industry is a little hard as there are lots of people who want to become somebody and there are very few who can. Rather than taking any shortcut, hard work always pays. What had happened with me was, I had worked hard giving auditions and there was no rest. The hardship of this industry is to just be on the go. You can’t stay still and relax.”
