After an exponential rise in the number of coronavirus cases, the national capital is now facing another challenge as black fungus cases are rising at an alarming rate. The drug used for its treatment, Amphotericin-B, is still short in supply.

However, as per the report, many claimed that although these medicines are not available in hospitals, it is present in the black market as people are milking the crisis to earn profit. Many are even hoarding it.

Many hospitals in the national capital stated that there is a shortage of drugs for treatment, however, they are managing to get some vials, as per the Times of India report.

‘Number of vials needed is more than what is being approved’

Some sources at renowned Max Hospital added owing to the shortage, alternative drugs are being used for treatment.

A source said, “The number of vials needed is more than what is being approved, but we are trying to do our best. We did get some approvals s and are awaiting more. Seven vials per day are required for a patient for ten days so one can easily calculate how many vials are needed as per the number of patients the city has,” as per a report published by the TOI.

A senior doctor also said that the drug is in short supply and black marketing is going all around. He added that even though the drug is available on the black market, however, its authencity is questioned.
