The registration of new vehicles was down by 31.8% in April 2021 as compared to April 2019, according to the Federation of Automobile Dealers Associations’ (FADA’s) Monthly Vehicle Registration Data for April 21.
The data for new vehicle registrations is not comparable to April 2020 as there was a complete lockdown in April last year therefore no vehicles were sold during the period.
New registrations in April 2021 stood at 11,85,374 units down by 31.8% from 17,38,802 new registrations in April 2019 and down by 28% (month-on-month) from March of this year.
“Unlike other months, we can’t represent a year-on-year comparison since India was under complete lockdown in April 2020 and not a single vehicles could be sold. Hence, all comparisons for this month has been done on MoM basis,” said FADA in a statement.
