COVID-19 case count on May 6: Tamil Nadu logs 24,898 new coronavirus cases; Andhra sees 21,954 infections

As the second wave of COVID-19 continues to create ripples across India, the country hit a record daily high with 4,12,262 coronavirus cases, pushing the caseload to 2,10,77,410. The COVID death toll surged to 2,30,168 as 3,980 patients succumbed due to the deadly contagious virus in the last 24 hours, the data released by the union ministry of health and family welfare stated.

India’s COVID-19 recovery rate has dropped to 81.99 per cent. The data released at 8 am showed that 1,72,80,844 have recovered so far while the case fatality rate was recorded at 1.09 per cent.

Tamil Nadu sees 24,898 new COVID-19 cases

Tamil Nadu today reported 24,898 new COVID19 cases, pushing the tally to 12,97,500, while 195 more patients succumbed to the infection, taking the toll to 14,974.

Andhra logs 21,954 fresh coronavirus cases

Andhra Pradesh today reported 21,954 fresh cases of COVID-19 and 72 fatalities that raised the tally of infections to 12,28,186 and the toll to 8,446.

Total recoveries: 10,37,411
Death toll: 8446
Active cases: 1,82,329

Madhya Pradesh sees 86 new Covid deaths

Madhya Pradesh reported 12,421 new COVID-19 cases and 86 deaths in the last 24 hours.

Total recoveries: 5,42,632
Death toll: 6160
Active cases: 88,614

Rajasthan records 161 Coronavirus deaths

Rajasthan registered 17,532 new coronavirus cases and 161 deaths in the last 24 hours. The state witnessed 16,044 more recoveries.

Death toll 5182
Active cases 1,98,010

Uttar Pradesh registers 26,780 new CoVID cases

With 26,780 new cases in the last 24 hours, the overall COVID-19 tally in Uttar Pradesh increased to 14,25,916. Alos, 353 more lies were lost due to the deadly virus.

Active cases: 2,59,844

Kerala reports 42,464 COVID cases 

Kerala reported 42,464 new COVID-19 cases and 63 deaths in the last 24 hours. The southern state witnessed 27,152 more recoveries.

Death toll: 5,628
Total recoveries: 13,89,515

Delhi records 335 COVID deaths

Delhi registered 19,133 new coronavirus cases even as the positivity rate dropped below 25 per cent for the first time since April 18. The national capital registered 335 more deaths, pushing the fatality count to 18,39.
