Bellamkonda Sai Sreenivas to star in Telugu remake of Dhanush’s Karnan

Bellamkonda Sai Srinivas, who is known for starring in the Telugu action entertainer Alludu Seenu, is all set to play the lead role in the Telugu remake of the critically acclaimed Tamil hit, Karnan. The film was directed by Mari Selvaraj in Tamil, the Dhanush-starrer released across theatres on April 9, 2021, and received a humongous response from the fans of the actor.

Karnan portrayed Dhanush in the titular role who played the leader of oppressed class people to gain social justice. The film’s story was based on 1995 Kodiyankulam (Tirunelveli district, Tamil Nadu) police brutality. 

The film was produced by Kalaipuli S Dhanu under V Creations with music by Santhosh Narayanan. Karnan also stars Sandakozhi-fame Lal, Gouri G Kishan, Nataraj (Natty) and comedian Yogi Babu in supporting roles. Karnan marks the Tamil debut of Malayalam actress Rajishya Vijayan. 

Bellamkonda Sreenivas’ father, producer Bellamkonda Suresh, bought the Telugu remake rights of Karnan and he is all set to produce in Telugu. However, the official announcement for the same will be made very soon. 

For the unaware, Sreenivas made his debut in 2014 opposite Samantha Akkineni in Alludu Seenu that became a raging hit. He also went on to pick up the Filmfare Award for Best Male Debut – South. Over the years, he has been a part of hit films like Speedunnodu, Jaya Janaki Nayaka, Saakshyam, Sita, Rakshasudu. He was last seen in Alludu Adhurs, a comedy family entertainer was directed by Santosh Srinivas. Prakash Raj and Sonu Sood in key roles.  

The actor is busy with the Hindi remake of Prabhas-starred Chatrapathi, which will be directed by VV Vinayak. Produced by Pen Studios of Jayantilal Gada, the film marks Bellamkonda’s Bollywood debut. The film’s commencement is delayed due to second wave of corona. A huge set was erected in Hyderabad for first schedule of the film. 

About Chatrapathi: 

The thrilling film revolves around Shivaji, essayed by Prabhas and his family who are uprooted from the coast of Sri Lanka. Due to unforeseen circumstances, Shivaji gets separated from his family, with his mother assuming he is dead. He eventually lands upon the port of Vizag and grows up to be an angry young man who is in search of his mother. This revenge drama is filled with action, twists, and turns that will only leave the audience at the edge of their seat
