Mansukh Hiren’s death: Maharashtra ATS files murder case against unidentified persons

Maharashtra Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) has registered an FIR for alleged criminal conspiracy, murder, and attempts to destroy evidence in Mansukh Hiren death case.

The murder case was registered after Hiren’s wife filed a complaint.

The body of Hiren (46) was fished out of a creek along the Mumbra-Reti Bunder road in neighbouring Thane on Friday morning.

This sensational new development comes after the postmortem report received on Saturday mentioned that there were no visible external injuries on Hiren’s body with Thane police official saying drowning is suspected to be the cause of the victim’s death.

However, according to Hiren’s family and friends, the deceased was a good swimmer.

The family of Mansukh Hiren must get justice at the earliest: Congress

The Maharashtra Congress today said the family of Mansukh Hiren must get justice at the earliest.

Hiren’s viscera has been preserved and sent for chemical analysis to the forensic sciences laboratory at Kalina in Mumbai.

Hiren, who was in the vehicle spare parts business, was in possession of a Scorpio SUV owned by Sam Newton Peter. This vehicle loaded with 20 gelatin sticks was parked near industrialist Mukesh Ambani’s multi-storey residence Antilia in South Mumbai. A handwritten “threat letter” in “broken English” addressed to Ambani and his wife Neeta was also found in the vehicle.

As per the cops, the vehicle had said it had been stolen from Airoli-Mulund Bridge on February 18.

No need to hand over this investigation to NIA: Sanjay Raut

The mysterious death of Hiren has triggered a war of words with the opposition BJP and the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) government headed by the Shiv Sena.

Leader of Opposition Devendra Fadnavis of BJP on Friday demanded a probe by the National Investigation Agency (NIA) in the incident, Shiv Sena’s Sanjay Raut said there was no need to transfer the case to the central agency as Maharashtra ATS and Mumbai cops were capable to probe the case.

“There is no need to hand over this investigation to NIA. Mumbai police are capable. Home Minister Anil Deshmukh has handed over the probe to the ATS. All the officers are good,” Raut had said.

On Saturday, Maharashtra BJP president Chandrakant Patil alleged that the suspicious death of Hiren is prima facie a murder.
