Former India cricketer Yuvraj Singh has become one of the first prominent voices from the cricket fraternity to react to the ongoing student protest at Jantar Mantar in New Delhi. While several Bollywood personalities have commented on the issue, there has been little response from the cricket world until now.

Taking to Instagram, Yuvraj shared a message highlighting the importance of peace, education and dialogue. His statement has attracted attention on social media as protests continue across the national capital.

Yuvraj Singh shares message on students’ rights

On Wednesday (July 22), Yuvraj Singh posted a story on Instagram expressing support for students and calling for a peaceful future.

He wrote “To every child, student, woman and man, you deserve the opportunity to learn in peace, grow safely and fulfil your dreams.”

The former all-rounder further said “Your well-being is the foundation of a brighter India. Let us come together to build communities of care, opportunity and hope.”

Ending his message, Yuvraj appealed for dialogue instead of conflict. He wrote “Through dialogue we can find an amicable solution for the future of India.”

His statement has been widely shared online, with many appreciating his call for peace and constructive discussions.

Student protest continues at Jantar Mantar

The protest has been ongoing in Delhi, with thousands of students and supporters demanding the resignation of Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan.

On Monday (July 20), a march towards Parliament was organised following a call by the Cockroach Janata Party (CJP). The protest coincided with the beginning of the Monsoon Session of Parliament.

During the march, clashes reportedly broke out between protesters and the police. Authorities used lathi charge and tear gas to disperse the crowd after tensions escalated.

Sonam Wangchuk’s hunger strike enters 25th day

Meanwhile, activist Sonam Wangchuk continues his hunger strike in support of the movement.

On the 25th day of his fast, Wangchuk shared a video on social media, updating people about his health. He said he has lost around 11 kilograms during the hunger strike but remains committed to the movement.

His update has drawn fresh attention to the ongoing protests and the demands being raised by demonstrators.

Yuvraj Singh’s message draws attention

Yuvraj Singh’s statement is significant because it marks one of the first public reactions from a leading Indian cricketer on the issue. Instead of taking a political stand, the former World Cup-winning all-rounder focused on the importance of peace, education, safety and dialogue.

As protests continue, his message calling for understanding and discussions has become a talking point across social media.
