1 crore women in Delhi eligible for Rs 2500 – Are you one of them Rekha Gupta’s government makes BIG announcement

The Delhi Government is set to introduce the Mahila Samriddhi Yojana, a scheme aimed at providing financial support to women. Under this plan, eligible women in Delhi will receive ₹2,500 every month. The scheme was announced in the 2026–27 Budget by Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, with a focus on women’s welfare and empowerment.

Online portal for registration to launch soon

The government is expected to launch an online portal soon where women can apply for the scheme. Once the portal is live, eligible applicants will be able to register and receive financial assistance directly in their bank accounts.

A total budget of Rs 5,110 crore has been allocated for the scheme, showing the government’s commitment to supporting women financially.

Delay in Scheme Implementation

Even though the scheme was approved by the Delhi Cabinet on March 8, 2025, it has not started yet. A similar amount was also set aside in the previous budget under another scheme, but no beneficiaries have been selected so far.

The delay is mainly due to unclear eligibility rules and the absence of a working application system.

Eligibility criteria for Mahila Samriddhi Yojana

The government has not yet announced who can apply for the scheme. A committee formed in 2025 to decide the rules has held only a few meetings, and final guidelines are still pending.

Women will need to wait for official updates on eligibility and required documents.

All about Mahila Samriddhi Yojana

The Mahila Samriddhi Yojana was a key promise made by the Bharatiya Janata Party during the 2025 Delhi Assembly elections. The party promised Rs 2,500 monthly support to women.

After winning the elections and defeating the Aam Aadmi Party, the new government approved the scheme on International Women’s Day in 2025.

A committee including leaders like Pravesh Sahib Singh, Ashish Sood, and Kapil Mishra was formed to prepare the plan, but progress has been slow.

Focus on women in Delhi Budget 2026

The 2026–27 Budget has given strong importance to women’s welfare. Around ₹7,406 crore has been allocated to related schemes.

Some new initiatives include:

  • E-auto permits for 1,000 women
  • Free bicycles for 1.30 lakh girl students
  • ‘Rani Haat’ markets to support women entrepreneurs

Another scheme, the Delhi Lakhpati Betiya Yojana, will provide financial support to girls from birth to graduation.

How this scheme will help women

If implemented soon, the Mahila Samriddhi Yojana can benefit a large number of women by giving them a steady monthly income of ₹2,500. It can help improve financial independence and support household needs.

However, the final launch depends on the government completing the eligibility rules and starting the registration portal. Women are advised to keep checking official updates for the latest information.
