In a historic first for Indian cinema, the Manipuri film Boong, backed by Ritesh Sidhwani and Farhan Akhtar’s Excel Entertainment along with Chalkboard Entertainment and Suitable Pictures, won at the 79th British Academy Film Awards (BAFTA 2026). Directed by Lakshmipriya Devi, the coming-of-age drama took home the Best Children’s & Family Film award, marking a defining moment for regional cinema on the global stage.
The film triumphed over international competitors, including Zootopia 2, Lilo & Stitch, and Arco, securing India’s maiden victory at the prestigious awards.

About the Film
