Following BNP’s resounding victory in Bangladesh’s 13th national parliamentary elections, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee sent flowers and sweets to Tarique Rahman. BNP Media Cell member Atiqur Rahman Ruman received the floral greetings and sweets at the BNP chairman’s political office, located in Gulshan.

Earlier on Friday, Banerjee extended warm congratulations to the Bangladesh Nationalist Party and wished an advanced Ramazan Mubarak in a social media post. “To all brothers and sisters of Bangladesh, to the people, I convey my warm greetings, my advance Ramadan Mubarak. I extend my congratulations to my brother Tarek, his team, and other teams for this great victory of Bangladesh. May everyone stay well, stay happy. We hope that Bangladesh’s good relations with us will always be maintained,” she wrote on X.
PM Modi also extends warm congratulations to BNP Chairman
Prime Minister Narendra Modi also congratulated the BNP Chairman in a post on X for leading the BNP to a decisive victory in the parliamentary elections in Bangladesh. “This result reflects the confidence of the people of Bangladesh in your leadership. India will continue to extend its support for a democratic, progressive, and inclusive Bangladesh. I look forward to working closely with you to further strengthen our multifaceted relationship and advance our shared development goals,” he wrote.
Bangladesh election results
Polling in the 13th Jatiya Sangsad election and referendum took place on February 12. The Election Commission of Bangladesh announced the results on Friday, February 13, for 297 of the 300 seats.
Of the 297 declared seats, the Bangladesh Nationalist Party and its allies secured a total of 212 seats. Meanwhile, the 11-party electoral alliance led by anti-India Jamaat-e-Islami won only 77 seats, while Islami Andolan Bangladesh got 1 seat, and independent candidates secured 7 seats.
