Massive showdown in Lok Sabha as Rajnath Singh, Amit Shah object to Rahul Gandhi citing MM Narvane’s memoir on India-China clash

A massive showdown erupted after Lok Sabha LoP Rahul Gandhi was speaking during the Motion of Thanks in Parliament .

Rahul cites unpublished Narvane memoir

Rahul Gandhi quoted a magazine while referring to an unpublished memoir ‘Four stars of Destiny’ of former Army Chief General MM Narvane on the India-China tension in 2020, which was rebuked by Defence Minister Rajnath Singh and Union Home Minister Amit Shah.

Govt objects to unpublished book reference

Both ministers objected, saying that the book has not been published, and therefore its reference cannot be quoted in the August House. Rahul Gandhi was adamant that he only wanted to read an excerpt from the magazine, but it turned into an argument between the treasury bench and opposition leaders.

Rajnath counters Rahul’s allegation

Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh said that he had no clue about the particular book and added that, as Rahul Gandhi was alleging that its publication was barred, the former Army General could have approached the Supreme Court.

Congress flags Tejasvi Surya remark

Congress leaders pointed out BJP MP Tejasvi Surya’s quote that he had made in his speech while questioning the nationalism of the Congress party. Rahul Gandhi said he was not the one to raise the issue, but Surya had raised it, and he was replying to it.

‘Why are they so scared’

Congress MP Rahul Gandhi said, “This is not me, this is what the Army Chief (former) has written in a book. The book is not being allowed to be published. It is languishing, and this is the Army Chief’s perspective. Why are they so scared of the Army Chief’s perspective? Why are they so scared of what the Army Chief has to say? We will learn something from it. Of course, we will learn something about a Prime Minister. We will learn something about Rajnath Singh ji. But we will also learn something about the Army and how it was let down by the political leadership of the country. I’m saying that Naravane ji has clearly written about the Prime Minister and Rajnath Singh ji in his book. It has appeared in an article. I am quoting the article. They are not letting me speak.”

A standoff had taken place in Eastern Ladakh on May 5, 2020, between India and China, and there was also a clash between the armies of the two countries in the Pangong Lake area.
