ISRO’s PSLV-C62 lifts off with EOS-N1 and 14 other satellites from Sriharikota, marks India’s first space launch of 2026

The Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) has successfully begun its space launch programme for 2026 with the PSLV-C62 mission. The rocket carried 16 satellites into space and was launched from the Satish Dhawan Space Centre in Sriharikota, on India’s east coast. The launch took place at 10:18 am Indian Standard Time on 12 January. The mission was a success, with all satellites placed into their planned orbits.

This launch was the 64th flight of the Polar Satellite Launch Vehicle (PSLV). Over the years, the PSLV has become one of ISRO’s most trusted rockets because of its strong record of successful missions. It is often used to place satellites into low Earth orbit for India and for other countries.

The successful PSLV-C62 mission shows ISRO’s continued progress in space technology and strengthens India’s position as a reliable and capable space-launch nation.
