PM Modi set for MAJOR office shift: New workplace near Raisina Hill, likely to shift on…

The Prime Minister is set to shift operations to a newly built office complex close to Raisina Hill, as construction work enters its final phase. With interiors and finishing work nearing completion, officials indicate that Prime Minister Narendra Modi may begin using the new workspace later this month.

Developed under the ambitious Central Vista redevelopment project, the new complex has been officially named Seva Teerth. During its planning and construction stage, it was known as the Executive Enclave, but the government later opted for a name symbolising public service.

Inside the new Seva Teerth complex

Seva Teerth comprises three separate administrative blocks, each assigned a specific function. The first building will serve as the Prime Minister’s Office. The second will host the Cabinet Secretariat, while the third will house the National Security Council Secretariat along with the office of National Security Advisor Ajit Doval.

Several components of the Central Vista project have already been completed. The new Parliament building and the Vice President’s Enclave are fully functional, while the Prime Minister’s Office is now close to completion. Additionally, three of the eight planned ministerial office buildings have already begun functioning.

Alongside the office complex, a new official residence for the Prime Minister is being constructed nearby. Once it is ready, Prime Minister Modi will vacate his current residence at 7, Lok Kalyan Marg and move to the new location.

Modern work culture and future plans for historic blocks

The Seva Teerth campus features advanced meeting spaces designed to host national and international delegations. These rooms are equipped with modern technology while also incorporating elements that highlight India’s cultural heritage. A dedicated cabinet meeting hall has also been created. The Prime Minister’s Office follows an open-office layout, which officials believe will help promote efficiency and collaboration within the administration.

For decades after Independence, the Prime Minister’s Office functioned from the South Block, which also housed the Defence and External Affairs Ministries. The Home and Finance Ministries were earlier located in the North Block. These ministries have now been relocated to Kartavya Bhavan.

As part of the broader transformation, the iconic North and South Blocks, symbols of colonial-era governance, are set to be repurposed into a large museum. The museum will chronicle India’s 5000-year-old civilisational journey, with the first phase expected to open to the public early next year.
