Jharkhand Chief Minister’s Office  filed an FIR in Ranchi after a man impersonating Chief Minister Hemant Soren allegedly made unsolicited phone calls to Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar and his wife. The action prompted CMO to register a complaint with Gonda police through the CM’s private assistant, Jai Prasad.

What did the caller say?

According to the FIR, the caller phoned the Karnataka Deputy CM around 9:50 pm on Saturday, from mobile number 7439077614 and introduced himself as the Chief Minister of Jharkhand. The caller also expressed a desire to speak to DK Shivakumar’s wife. The complaint also states that a similar attempt had earlier been made with former Rajasthan Chief Minister and Congress leader Ashok Gehlot, where an unknown person tried to pass himself off as Soren.

Police are investigating the matter and a recording of the phone call is also available. The Chief Minister’s Office has described this as a serious breach aimed at misleading senior leaders and condemnable attempt. A recording of the latest call has been submitted to the police on a pen drive. In the audio, the caller can be heard claiming to be Hemant Soren while speaking in a suspicious and inappropriate manner. The number appeared on Truecaller as “Abhijeet New CM GPT,” indicating a deliberate attempt at impersonation.

Investigation underway

Ranchi Police have started an investigation into the case with support from the cyber and technical units. Call records, SIM details and location data are being examined by the officers to identify the person behind the calls. Meanwhile, the Chief Minister has directed the police to expedite the probe and ensure firm action. “Necessary action has begun. More details will be shared after the investigation,” Sadar DSP Sanjeev Besra said, as reported by UNI. Police teams are currently working to trace the caller and taking steps for immediate legal action.
