Indian Ambassador to the US, Vinay Mohan Kwatra, on Saturday (October 25, 2025), discussed the India-US energy security partnership and the latest developments in this regard. In a post on X, Kwatra wrote, “Had a fruitful discussion with Deputy Secretary James Danly on the energy security partnership and shared perspectives on recent developments in energy trade and ties.”

In another social media post, the Indian Ambassador said that he engaged in ‘productive talks with Jim Taiclet, CEO of Lockheed Martin. “A very productive conversation on the India-US industrial cooperation, especially under the rubric of our Atmanirbhar Bharat goals, where U.S. defense companies have a key role to play,” he wrote.

The meeting comes shortly after United States President Donald Trump joined the Diwali festivities at the White House. Meanwhile, he claimed to have just spoken with Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Russian oil imports. While speaking to reporters at the Oval Office, the Republican leader said that he loved Indian people and that PM Modi told him that he is not going to purchase much oil from Russia.

“I spoke to Prime Minister Modi today, and we just have a very good relationship. He’s not going to buy much oil from Russia. He wants to see that war end as much as I do. He wants to see the war between Russia and Ukraine end. They’re not going to be buying too much oil. So they’ve cut it way back, and they’re continuing to cut it way back,” Trump said at the event.

While PM Modi acknowledged the US President’s call on Wednesday, there was no reference to Oil purchases. In a social media post, PM Modi reaffirmed his commitment to share democratic ideals and global peace. “Thank you, President Trump, for your phone call and warm Diwali greetings. On this festival of lights, may our two great democracies continue to illuminate the world with hope and stand united against terrorism in all its forms,” he wrote.
