In a mid-air scare, a United Airlines aircraft was forced to make an emergency landing after its windshield cracked, injuring one of the pilots.

A United Airlines spokesperson said the Boeing 737 MAX 8 was traveling from Denver to Los Angeles with 143 passengers and six crew members on board.

The incident occurred when the aircraft was flying at 36,000 feet and was suddenly hit by an object that shattered the windshield, injuring the pilot and causing bleeding.

As per reports, photographs circulating on social media show that the pilot sustained cuts on his arms, and shattered glass was seen on the dashboard and in the cockpit. United Airlines has not provided any details about the incident.

A report published by India Today quoted a United Airlines statement to The Mirror US: “On Thursday, United Flight 1093 landed safely in Salt Lake City to address damage to its multilayered windshield.”

The incident reportedly took place on October 16, when the Boeing 737 MAX 8 was at cruising altitude. The aircraft then went down to 26,000 feet before landing safely at Salt Lake City International Airport.
