India’s star cricketer Virat Kohli landed in Delhi on Tuesday morning as the preparations intensify for the upcoming ODI series against Australia. Kohli has already stepped away from T20Is and Tests and will only play the ODI format.

He has been residing with his family in London and will be playing cricket after four months break. A video has gone viral where he is seen exiting the Delhi airport – the fans were seen greeting him and cheering for him. The veteran batter did not stop for any interactions and swiftly headed towards his vehicle in order to link up with the Indian squad.

All the fans are eagerly waiting to watch Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma in action as this is the longest the duo have been away from cricket. The ODI series against Australia will be starting from October 19.

But with their comeback, uncertainity also looms over their ODI future. Recently Rohit Sharma was replaced as the new ODI captain of India when the squad was announced. Ajit Agarkar even said that both Kohli and Rohit are “non-committal” about the ODI World Cup in 2027. Following all these developments there have been a lot of questions regarding there future in Indian cricket.

In the post-match press conference after India won the two-match Test series against West Indies, Gautam Gambhir was asked about the ODI future of Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli. The Indian head coach smoothly dodged the question and mentioned it was too soon to decide anything.

“ODI World Cup is two and a half years away. It is important to stay in the present. They are both quality players. Hopefully, those 2 will have a successful tour,” Gautam Gambhir opined about Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma’s ODI future.

India will now be playing 3-match ODI series against Australia where both Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma will be seen playing under the leadership of Shubman Gill.
