IRCTC BIG Diwali Gift: Indian Railways Offers No-Cancellation-Fee Tickets, Allowing Passengers to Change Train Dates Without Paying Penalties

An innovative move that could revolutionize how people travel throughout the nation is about to be implemented by Indian Railways. Rescheduling train trips will soon be possible for travelers without incurring cancelation fees. According to a report, the new program, which is anticipated to be launched via the IRCTC portal, will enable passengers to change their booked date of travel on a confirmed ticket and simply pay the applicable fare modification.

Indian Railways: Worry-Free Travel

According to some, the action is a significant step toward increasing the flexibility, affordability, and convenience of rail travel, especially for people whose travel plans frequently change at the last minute. Losing money when a trip is canceled or a train is missed has been one of the main worries of travelers. This problem is what the new system seeks to solve.

If a traveler misses their train, they are not currently eligible for a refund. Even if there are good reasons for the delay, such a postponed flight, bad weather, or an emergency, the ticket price is lost. Furthermore, a cancellation fee is assessed based on the travel class and the time of cancellation when a confirmed ticket is canceled before to departure.

This fee can range from 25% to 50% of the ticket price, and passengers could not get a refund at all in some circumstances.
