Delhi Rouse Avenue court framed charges against Rashtriya Janata Dal President Lalu Prasad Yadav, his wife Rabri Devi, son Tejashwi Yadav, and others under IPC sections 420 and 120 B for cheating and conspiracy. The case pertains to alleged corruption in the tender of two IRCTC hotels in Ranchi and Puri.

Special Judge (PC Act) Vishal Gogne has passed the order. The court will proceed to trial since all the accused have pleaded not guilty to the alleged offence. All the accused are charged with criminal conspiracy. The Rouse Avenue court has framed charges against the accused persons as per their alleged roles.

According to the Central Bureau of Investigation’s chargesheet, Lalu Yadav and his family accepted prime land as a bribe for granting contracts to a private company during his tenure as Railway Minister of India (20024-2009).

As per allegations, two IRCTC hotels in Ranchi and Puri were given on lease to the ‘Sujata Hotels’ through a manipulated tender process. In return, land worth crores was handed over to a firm allegedly linked to Lalu’s wife, & former Bihar Chief Minister Rabri Devi and son Tejashwi Yadav. it was transferred at a fraction of its market value.

The Yadav family has now questioned the probe as they appeared at the Rouse Avenue Court in Delhi, stating that no evidence was found against them and that the case is politically motivated.
