Strikes Hit Kabul and Two Other Sites as Afghan Foreign Minister Visits India -Is Pakistan to Blame?

Multiple unconfirmed reports have surfaced online suggesting an alleged Pakistani airstrike attack on Kabul and possibly two other locations in Afghanistan. The development comes at a time when the Afghan Foreign Minister is on an ongoing visit to India.

Open-source intelligence (OSINT) accounts have circulated an unverified image claimed to show an explosion in Kabul, though no official confirmation has been issued by Afghan or Pakistani authorities.

Residents across Kabul reported that they heard loud blasts accompanied by the sounds of aircraft flying low. As per media reports, the explosions originated from District 8, located in the eastern part of Kabul—an area that houses several key government offices and residential zones. The exact cause of the blasts remains unclear. Investigations are underway. No damage has been reported, and the situation is under control.

Amid the rising tensions, Pakistan’s Lieutenant General Ahmed Sharif, Director General of Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), is scheduled to hold a press conference in Peshawar on Friday at 2:30 PM.

Earlier on Thursday, addressing Pakistan’s National Assembly, Defence Minister Khawaja Asif warned Afghanistan, stating, “Enough is enough. Our patience has run out. Terrorism from Afghan soil is intolerable.” He recalled a Pakistani visit to Kabul three years ago when Afghan authorities refused to provide firm guarantees against militant operations — and hours later, multiple reports of airstrikes surfaced.

The explosions have occurred as Afghanistan’s acting Foreign Minister, Amir Khan Muttaqi, arrived in New Delhi for his first official visit to the capital. He is accompanied by a five-member Taliban delegation. Muttaqi is scheduled to meet with External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar on Friday.

Earlier on Thursday, Afghanistan’s Foreign Minister had rejected a proposed meeting with Pakistan, highlighting rising tensions. U.S. President Donald Trump issued a warning regarding Afghanistan’s Bagram Airbase, fueling speculation about the U.S.’s renewed interest in the region.
