Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that India cannot remain dependent on others, underlining the importance of Atmanirbhar Bharat.

He added that nothing is more helpless than relying on others, and the more a country depends on others, the more its growth is likely to be compromised.

Addressing the gathering at the Uttar Pradesh International Trade Show-2025 (UPITS-2025), Prime Minister Modi expressed his satisfaction over the participation of more than 2,250 exhibitors showcasing their products and services. He also highlighted that Russia is the partner country for this year’s event, reflecting the strengthening of the longstanding partnership between the two nations.

“…It is no longer acceptable for a country like India to be dependent on anyone… Despite the global disruptions and uncertainties, India’s growth is attractive. Disruptions don’t hinder us, but even in those circumstances, we look for new directions. Amid all these disruptions, India is strengthening the foundations for the coming decades. Our resolve and mantra is Atmanirbhar Bharat. Nothing can be more helpless than being dependent on others. The more a country stays dependent on others, the more its growth is going to stay compromised,” ANI quoted PM Modi as saying.

Prime Minister Modi added, “I am happy that more than 2250 exhibitors are displaying their products and services. This time, the country partner of the trade show is Russia, which means we are further strengthening this time-tested partnership.”

Govt Developing Vibrant Defence Sector In India

Prime Minister Modi said that India is working to reduce dependence on other nations and developing a vibrant defence industry, noting that AK-203 rifles will soon be manufactured in a factory set up with Russian assistance and a defence corridor is being established in the state.

“Our forces want to reduce their dependence on other nations. We are developing a vibrant defence sector in India… Very soon, in the factory set up with the help of Russia, we will begin manufacturing the AK-203 rifles. A defence corridor is being built in UP,” ANI quoted PM Modi as saying.

Aatmanirbhar Bharat

Highlighting the significant presence of entrepreneurs, traders and business owners in Uttar Pradesh, Prime Minister Modi urged them to align their business models in a manner that strengthens Aatmanirbhar Bharat.

“There is such a large number of entrepreneurs, traders, and business owners. You are the key stakeholders of the ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat’ initiative. My appeal to you today is to design your business model in a way that strengthens Atmanirbhar Bharat,” PM Modi said.

Indigenous Manufacturing Of Chips, Ships

Highlighting the government’s strong focus on ‘Make in India’ and domestic manufacturing, PM Modi said India aims to produce everything locally, from chips to ships, and noted that the government is continuously working to simplify processes and make it easier for businesses to operate.

“You all know how much focus the government is giving today on ‘Make in India’ and manufacturing. We want to manufacture everything in India, from chips to ships. To facilitate this, the government is continuously working to make it easier for you to do business,” IANS quoted PM Modi as saying.

Uttar Pradesh International Trade Show-2025
