‘People Impose Tariffs Fearing India’s Growth’: RSS Chief Mohan Bhagwat On US Sanctions

Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) Chief Mohan Bhagwat on Friday reacted indirectly to the trade tariffs imposed by the United States for the first time. Speaking at the 7th foundation day of Brahma Kumaris Vishwa Shanti Sarovar in Nagpur, Bhagwat said that people who impose tariffs on India fear India’s growth.

Bhagwat’s Veiled Jibe At US

RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat, while addressing a gathering, speaks on US tariffs. He said, “In the world, people fear that if India grows, their place will be diminished, so they impose tariffs. We did nothing, but they are luring the one who did it, thinking that if they stays with them, pressure will be created on India.”

The RSS chief further said that the world needs solution today but the incomplete vision cannot help achieve it. “We are seven seas apart. There is no direct relation. But they are afraid. This all is happening due to the selfish thinking. However, when you understand it deeply, it becomes clear that it’s about ourselves. When you think collectively, all issues get resolved. The world today needs solutions. They tried to resolve issues with their incomplete vision but could not succeed,” said Bhagwat.

‘Time To Understand Real-Self’

The RSS chief added that when people remain separate, then each individual thinks of getting everything. “If we all remain separate, the feeling arises that everything should come to me. This leads to disputes and selfishness. Conflicts, from individuals to the nation, happen because everyone wants everything for themselves…” he said.

Bhagwat stressed that beyond trade, the deeper challenge lies in understanding the true nature of individuals and nations. “Unless human beings and countries understand their real self, they will continue to face problems. If we show compassion and overcome fear, we will have no enemies,” he said.

Drawing a parallel between the Brahma Kumaris, a women-led spiritual movement, and the RSS, Bhagwat noted that both organisations seek to awaken inner consciousness. He urged people to look inward for strength and to cultivate compassion as the foundation for global peace.

US Tariffs On India

US President Donald Trump imposed 50% tariffs on India, accusing New Delhi of funding Russia’s war against Ukraine by buying oil from Moscow. However, several reports claimed that Trump’s tariffs were inspired by his personal interest in getting nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize over his alleged claim of helping stop the India-Pakistan clash.
