In a recent development, the Indian Army neutralised terrorists in Srinagar’s Harwan during Operation Mahadev. On Monday, three terrorists, including the alleged Pahalgam mastermind Suleiman Shah, were killed in the operation, according to reports. They were killed in an encounter that erupted in the Lidwas area of Srinagar’s Harwan on Monday, said the army in an official statement.

Army informed that three terrorists have likely been neutralised in the upper reaches of Dachigam, Srinagar. Top sources told News24 that the killed terrorists are believed to be involved in the recent Pahalgam terrorist attack, with their identities currently being verified.

The Army confirmed that an encounter took place between terrorists and security forces in the Lidwas area early this morning. “Three terrorists have been neutralized in an intense firefight. Operation continues,” the Army said.

An official involved in the operation told News24 that while three terrorists have been confirmed dead, the operation is still ongoing. This marks a major success for the Jammu and Kashmir Police and the Army in the Kashmir Valley, as they have neutralized individuals linked to the Pahalgam attack. A top police official confirmed to News24 that those killed in Harwan were indeed involved in the Pahalgam incident. According to police sources, there is a 90% probability that these are the terrorists responsible for the Pahalgam attack, with further identification efforts underway.

Additionally, sources reported that a large quantity of arms and ammunition has been recovered from the encounter site, and search operations are still in progress.

Earlier on Monday, the Army announced that contact had been established with terrorists in the general area of Lidwas in Central Kashmir’s Srinagar district. Taking to the micro-blogging platform X, the Army’s Chinar Corps wrote, “Contact established in General Area Lidwas. Operation in progress.”
