The Devdas-themed love stories have reached a crescendo with Saiyaara. But dark tales of the star-crossed lovers will continue, and the next one out is Anurag Basu’s untitled film (yaar, kitna waqt lagoge bachche ka naam dhoondne mein) starring Kartik Aaryan and Sreeleela.

Trade Guru Taran Adarsh feels the success of Saiyaara can only augur well for Kartik’s (untitled!) film. “Every film has its own destiny. That said, a love story—if made well—always holds a special place in the hearts of audiences. The collaboration between Kartik Aaryan and Anurag Basu, coming together for the very first time, is bound to raise expectations. More so because the blockbuster success of Saiyaara has sparked renewed curiosity around upcoming love stories.”

Taran Adarsh feels Kartik’s film will be one of a kind. “This Kartik Aaryan project is particularly special—from what I hear, it’s an intense love story—and the fresh pairing of Kartik and Sreeleela adds further intrigue. While the film is still in production and awareness is currently limited, there’s little doubt that once it nears release, if the music and narrative strike a chord, it could well become a rage at the boxoffice. Kartik Aaryan enjoys a massive youth following, while Sreeleela is already an established name in South Indian cinema. Together, they make for a striking and exciting pair.”

Added producer and trade analyst Girish Johar, “Actually, there is no correlation between Saiyaara and Kartik Aaryan’ film. That’s a different film altogether from Saiyaara. Kartik’s film will solely be judged on its own merit, its music, its trailer, and promotions. Yes, the genre of Saiyaara, youth romance will help, but that’s always the case with our Indian audience… we all love musical romances day in and day out.”
