WI Vs AUS: ICC Penalizes Daren Sammy For Questioning Umpires Decision – This Much Match Fee Has Been Deducted!

The West Indies team is playing a two-match Test series against Australia at home. The first match took place in Barbados, where Australia secured a brilliant victory to take a 1-0 lead in the series. Several decisions by the third umpire during the match were heavily disputed.

Most of these decisions went against the West Indies, prompting West Indies head coach Daren Sammy to raise concerns during the post-match press conference. However, Sammy’s remarks about the third umpire’s decisions have since overshadowed the series, and the ICC has penalized him for questioning those decisions.

ICC Fines Sammy

In the first Test, Daren Sammy openly expressed his dissatisfaction with several decisions made by third umpire Adrian Holdstock. This included the not-out verdict for Travis Head, the dismissal of Shai Hope, the not-out call for Australia’s Cameron Green, and the LBW dismissal of West Indies captain Roston Chase.

Referring to these decisions, Sammy said, “Whatever pictures have come out, it seems that not all decisions were fair to both teams, and I just want fairness.” Following this, the ICC found Sammy guilty of violating its code of conduct and fined him 15 percent of his match fee.

Jayden Seales Also Fined

Earlier, the ICC fined West Indies fast bowler Jayden Seales 15 percent of his match fee as well. Seales bowled brilliantly in the first innings, taking five wickets. However, after dismissing Australia captain Pat Cummins, Seales made a gesture indicating Cummins should head back to the dressing room, which the ICC deemed inappropriate and acted upon.

West Indies Lose by 159 Runs

West Indies’ batting in the first Test was disappointing. The team scored 190 runs in the first innings and only 141 runs in the second. The entire West Indies batting lineup was dismissed in the first session of the third day’s play. This collapse allowed Australia to win the match by 159 runs.
