After US Strikes On Iran, PM Modi Speaks To President Pezeshkian, Urges De-escalation

Following the United States’ attack on Iran’s nuclear sites, Prime Minister Narendra Modi  spoke to Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian. During this, he expressed serious concern over the escalating tension in the region and emphasized the need for immediate dialogue and diplomatic efforts to calm the situation.

In a post on X, PM Modi wrote, “Spoke with President of Iran @drpezeshkian. We discussed in detail about the current situation. Expressed deep concern at the recent escalations,”

PM Modi stated. He emphasised the need for a peaceful resolution and added, “Reiterated our call for immediate de-escalation, dialogue and diplomacy as the way forward and for early restoration of regional peace, security and stability.”

Addressing the White House, Trump said on Saturday (US local time) that the US had carried out “precise and large-scale” attacks on Iran. He warned that if peace is not maintained, the US will take more stringent steps. At the same time, Iran strongly criticized these attacks, calling them against international law, and reiterated its resolve to continue its nuclear program.

A statement issued by AEOI confirmed that early on Sunday morning, Iran’s nuclear sites were “subjected to savage aggression–an act in violation of international laws, particularly the NPT.” “This action, which violates international regulations, unfortunately took place under the indifference and even complicity of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA),” it said.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has praised the military action led by Trump. He said that Trump’s bold step of targeting Iranian nuclear sites can change the course of history. The ongoing conflict between Israel and Iran reached its ninth day on Saturday, and now the US has also started supporting Israel. At the same time, India is continuously making efforts to safely evacuate its citizens trapped in Iran and several flights have been planned for this purpose.
