ENG Vs IND: Harshit Rana Stopped In England Before 5-Match Tests – What Is he Selection Committee Hiding?

The Indian selection committee led by Ajit Agarkar chose Team India’s young star Shubman Gill to lead the side. The committee also asked young pacer Harshit Rana to stay back after the end of India A match which was played in England.

Rana made his international debut at Perth during the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25 in Australia. Rana was part of A-Squad. India A played with the Indian Team in recently concluded warm-up fixture.

According to RevSportz, Rana will not be boarding the flight back to India along with rest of the India A squad on Tuesday, 17 June, and has been asked to stay back in England with the main squad. However, it’s yet to be confirmed whether Rana has officially been added to the Gill-led squad, or whether he simply is on standby at the moment.

Why Rana Is Stopped?

When it comes to back-up options, a bowler needs to stay in the team for assistance for both batters and bowlers. The same scenario occurred during Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2020-21, where top bowlers were injured and back-up bowlers were called up which paved the way for Team India to win the epic series.

Team India’s Schedule

Test Dates Venue City
First Test June 20–24 Headingley Leeds
Second Test July 2–6 Edgbaston Birmingham
Third Test July 10–14 Lord’s London
Fourth Test July 23–27 Old Trafford Manchester
Fifth Test July 31–August 4 The Oval London
