The opening episode of Raw after WWE Money in the Bank 2025 witnessed a number of shocking moments. The main event was downright electrifying. Jey Uso successfully defended his World Heavyweight Championship against Gunther. The bout was so intense that the audience was compelled to stand up from their seats. The culmination, though, left everyone shocked as Jey lost his title to The Ring General.
Fans had already been looking forward to mayhem in the match. A majority were expecting Seth Rollins to appear and cash in his Money in the Bank contract on Jey Uso. But that did not happen at all. Ultimately, Gunther won the World Championship for the second time in his career and earned a big milestone. Jey was visibly distraught after the loss. His son was seen accompanying him ringside.

In Money in the Bank, Cody Rhodes and Jey Uso beat John Cena and Logan Paul. Jey immediately defended himself against Gunther on Raw after that. Jey wasn’t fully well, with bandages on his ribs. He and Gunther had a great match packed with action. Both refused to lose easily. The Ring General seemed more powerful, countering some of Jey’s moves masterfully.
Gunther finally caught Jey Uso in a sleeper hold to take the victory. He struck back with brutal ferocity. Jey went out cold and disappeared. With the win via submission, The Ring General captured the title. Fans were left reeling over Jey’s loss, with most anticipating that he would maintain the championship. WWE, however, surprised the fans with its innovative angle.
Jey Uso’s Title Reign Didn’t Last Long
On April 19, 2025, at WrestleMania 41 Night-1, Jey Uso had defeated Gunther to become the World Heavyweight Champion. It was his first world title win in a 15-year-long career. Jey is currently one of WWE’s most popular stars. Everyone believed his title reign would last longer, but that didn’t happen. He remained champion for only 51 days. Some might consider this poor booking by Triple H. Jey deserved more time with the title.
Gunther had already captured the World Heavyweight Championship by defeating Damian Priest at SummerSlam 2024. That reign as title holder was amazing, lasting 258 days. WWE has again placed faith in him. Now the world will be watching how his second stint as world champion goes on.
