The Indian batter will join the squad of Yorkshire before the T20 Blast matchup with Surrey at Scarborough this July and be with the team until the season ends. As a member of the India A team touring England, Gaikad can also be picked for this season’s Metro Bank One Day Cup. Having taken the captaincy for Chennai Super Kings and Maharashtra, the cricketer from Pune is a skilled batter with six caps in ODIs and the experience of 23 T20s. He will make his Yorkshire County debut against Surrey on July 22 at North Marine Road Ground, Scarborough.
“I’m excited to be joining up with Yorkshire for the rest of the English domestic season,” Gaikwad said. “It has always been a goal of mine to experience cricket in this country and there is no bigger club in England than Yorkshire.
“I know how important it is that I hit the ground running at what will be a crucial part of the season. We have some vital games in the County Championship and the One-Day Cup is a great opportunity to win some silverware.” He added.

Gaikwad’s First Class Record
Gaikwad hasn’t been given a chance to play his first Test match yet. He has competed in 38 first-class matches, making 2,632 runs from all the balls he has faced at an average of 41.77. He has made fourteen fifties and played seven centuries in ODI cricket. He is part of the India A squad and is currently in England for the team’s clash against the England Lions. He is not part of the senior Test team that is scheduled to play a 5 match Test series against England.
