Three Congress MLAs were sworn in as ministers in the Telangana government on Sunday. G Vivek Venkata Swamy, Adluri Laxman Kumar, and Vakiti Srihari were administered the oath of office and secrecy by Telangana Governor Jishnu Dev Varma. The swearing-in ceremony was held at Raj Bhavan. Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy and other cabinet ministers were also present at the ceremony. With the induction of these three ministers, the cabinet has been expanded now.

Dornakal MLA J Ramchander Naik has also been appointed as the Deputy Speaker of the Telangana Legislative Assembly. The allocation of portfolios to the newly inducted ministers is yet to be announced.

Earlier, ahead of the ceremony, CM Revanth had congratulated the three MLAs for ministerial posts and Naik for becoming deputy speaker. He wrote on X, “As new ministers about to take charge. Sri Vivek Venkata Swamy, Mr. Adluri Lakshman, To Sri Vakiti Srihari. My congratulations. To Shri Ramachandru Nayak, who is about to assume the charge of Deputy Speaker in the Legislative Assembly. My congratulations.”

Notably, the Congress has taken social engineering into account while selecting the new ministers. The party has adhered to its Scheduled Caste Sub-categorisation policy in its appointments. Laxman belongs to the Madiga community, Vivek to the Mala community, and Srihari to the Backward Class–Mudiraj community.

Party sources had earlier, hinted that the leadership was considering candidates from sub-categories of Scheduled Castes to fill the six vacancies. These six ministerial berths were vacant since the Congress came to power in December 2023. 11 berths out of the total 17, were filled as soon as the government was formed.

An hour-long meeting was held between AICC in-charge Meenakshi Natarajan and CM Revanth Reddy on Friday, June 6 to finalise the names.
