At Pooja’s (Cheteshwar Pujara’s wife) book launch not long ago, Rohit Sharma asked about Cheteshwar Pujara about an incident that Pujara might have forgotten to mention. While they were both members of the same playing XI many times, Rohit told me that, as in the West Indies tour, Pujara was warned many times, but since he did not listen, he soon regretted his choice. Rohit Sharma and Cheteshwar Pujara have been a part of India’s team for quite a long time. The two first joined forces in India’s Under-19 World Cup team during the year 2006.

Cheteshwar Pujara Recalls Getting Mugged

“I’m sure it’s not written in the book. Is there anything regarding that West Indies tour of India A 2012. What happened,” Rohit needed Pujara. That’s when Puji opened up on the incident. “I haven’t told. I mean, she is aware but she doesn’t know the details. I am a vegetarian. So we were looking for a vegetarian meal at night. It was in TNT (Trinidad and Tobago) where we went out at 11 in the evening. We didn’t find the meal but when we were walking back, I was mugged. I can’t tell you in detail about it but that’s the story he is referring to.”

“Moral of the story is that he can be stubborn,” Rohit Sharma said. “We told him. We warned him not to go out in the night. Don’t step out after 9 PM. This is the West Indies.”

Rohit Sharma And Cheteshwar Pujara’s Friendship On And Off Feild

The friendship that Rohit Sharma and Cheteshwar Pujara have grew as they played in the 2006 Under-19 World Cup and has continued off the field too. Though they didn’t play a Test together in 2021, their respect for each other is still clear, as shown when Rohit told journalists that Pujara was not retired. Rohit did not spend much time batting with Rahane in Tests early on in his career which limited the chance for them to create strong batting partnerships. They have both played key roles in making Indian cricket strong and they still share a long-lasting friendship.
