‘First Nuclear Water War’: Bilawal Bhutto Zardari Issues Stark Warning To India

Former Pakistan foreign minister Bilawal Bhutto Zardari has threatened India with nuclear war, stating that India is laying the ground for its first nuclear water war by stopping the water supply to Pakistan.

‘First nuclear water war’

According to Pakistani daily, the Dawn, Zardari said at the Middle East Institute in Washington: “In the age of climate challenges that are to come, water scarcity and water wars used to be a theory. India shutting off Pakistan’s water supply is laying the foundations for the first nuclear water war.”

‘Cutting off their water supply will be an act of war’

Zardari further added that Pakistan has already made it clear that cutting off their water supply “will be an act of war.”

The former Pakistan foreign minister said India must withdraw its decision to hold the Indus Water Treaty at abeyance as they do expect that the nation still abides by the “old treaties”.

Bhutto at UN Headquarters

On June 4, Bhutto addressed a briefing at the UN Headquarters in New York and sought reconciliation with India, making a plea for talks and Intel sharing between the two neighbours.

The Pakistani side has suffered great losses after it attempted to target Indian defence and civil installations in the aftermath of Operation Sindoor.

IAF inflicted massive damage on PAF

As per an ongoing analysis of the damage inflicted upon by the Indian Air Force on Pakistan Air Force, it is emerging that 6 PAF fighter jets, two high-value aircraft, over 10 UCAVs, one C-130 transport aircraft, along with multiple cruise missiles, were destroyed by Indian air-launched cruise missiles and surface-to-air missiles.

Bhutto suggested cooperation between Pak and India

Ironically, Bhutto also suggested cooperation between Pakistan and India’s intelligence agencies to take on terrorism in South Asia.

“I am completely confident that if ISI and RAW were ready to sit down and work together to fight these forces, we would see a significant decrease in terrorism in both India and Pakistan,” he said.
Bhutto’s placatory stance shows how deeply Pakistan has been affected by the strikes carried out during Operation Sindoor and Pakistan’s need to seek peace in these circumstances.
