Sunil Gavaskar Highlights Recovery Concerns For PBKS Ahead Of IPL 2025 Final

The former Indian legend Sunil Gavaskar thinks that the PBKS may be at a disadvantage in the IPL 2025 final against RCB on Tuesday June 3 (today) in Ahmedabad. Gavaskar said that the team might find it hard to recover in time after their close victory against Mumbai Indians (MI) in Qualifier 2. He mentioned that playing a few days after a tough match may make it harder for players to recover.

Sunil Gavaskar’s Statemnt About PBKS

“It certainly does help. And for the Punjab Kings, I think also the fact that they just get a day’s break before the final and the match also finished so late against Mumbai Indians – that doesn’t give too much time for the body to recover. Yes, I know it’s a late evening game, it’s a 7:30 start, but the body does certainly need a lot of rest after the exertions of the previous day,” Gavaskar told India Today in an interview.

“The Bengaluru team has had four days off, so they will certainly be mentally and physically far more refreshed than the Punjab team when they enter the frame.”

“Not so much of an advantage. Like I said, I think it’s the fact that RCB are coming into the final with a string of absolutely brilliant performances with both bat and ball. So I don’t think they’ll be daunted by the fact that they haven’t played here.

“Punjab have, like I said, just 24 hours or so to recover, which is not really enough after the efforts they put in to beat Mumbai Indians,” Gavaskar added.

PBKS’ Performance In IPL 2025

The Punjab Kings have put up a great effort in IPL 2025 and after winning 9 games, losing 4 games and having 1 no-result from their 14, they will face RCB in the last match for the trophy this season. With 19 more points, Bama now find themselves well positioned near the top of the points table. As a result of their unmatched efforts during the tournament, the team’s net run rate (NRR) was 0.372. The team can win a championship more often since the season is balanced.
